Two female students pose at 2006 Homecoming
June 2008 Message from President Baker & The CSU

June 6, 2008

Dear friends,

CSU Budget Crisis - How You Can HelpAs the summer approaches, California's budget deficit continues to threaten Cal Poly and its students.

The Governor's revised budget will still result in the campus turning away qualified students and eroding the quality of education for those students already enrolled.

Like all Californians, Cal Poly and the rest of the California State University system are facing increased costs for energy and health care. Without other resources to cover these costs, the result will be fewer classes and lower quality for our students and their education.

Please join Cal Poly and the CSU in urging state legislators to recognize the return on investment that higher education brings by resisting further budget cuts and making higher education a fiscal priority. Here are three things you can do to help Cal Poly today:

1)
Write your state legislator. Click here for a sample letter
Click here to locate your legislator's contact information

2) Visit the Cal Poly Advocacy Web to learn more about the state budget

3) Forward this message to other Cal Poly alumni, parents and university friends

Sincerely,
Dr. Warren J. Baker
