Welcome, Ag Alumni!

Cal Poly agriculture is still going strong. In any given year, Cal Poly produces 50 percent of all the California agriculture baccalaureates, and 50 percent of all new K-12 agriculture teachers in the state.

In 2006-07, the college changed its name to reflect it's growing mission: we're now the Cal Poly College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences -- or CAFES, for short.

We hope all Cal Poly ag alumni will log in to PolyLink often to look up old friends and classmates and share your expertise with the next generation of Cal Poly ag graduates in the PolyLink Career Center. Be sure to check and see if any of the Cal Poly clubs or sports teams you were active with while here on campus have set up their PolyLink pages and bulletin boards yet, or search PolyLink for alumni in your area.

Rest assured Cal Poly alumni are the backbone of agriculture in California -- and are continuing to branch out across the West. Our alumni are heading nutrition programs in Massachusetts, opening nurseries in Connecticut, running international Avocado production from the Central Coast, and participating in record numbers in California's prestigious state Agricultural Leadership Program.

Ag News
Last year, the college had 3,811 students - 3,686 undergraduates and 125 graduate students. The new Wine and Viticulture major is booming, as is the Wine & Vit minor. The Animal Science Department is seeing a building boom, with a new feed mill and new bull test center coming on line -- and a new meats processing center moving from blueprints to construction.
