Photo Album Name: Weird Al at KCPR

Arguably Cal Poly's most famous architecture alum and definitely KCPR's most famous alumni DJ Weird Al Yankovic returned to his radio roots Oct. 9 to help Cal Poly dedicate the campus radio station's new studios.
Yankovic goes on the air in the new KCPR studios Oct. 9 as part of the studio dedication ceremonies. Thanks to KCPR's new studios and new transmitter on Cuesta Peak, he noted "even porpoises and manatees can listen to KCPR" as long as they aren't any further than 20 miles out to sea.

'Weird Al' Yankovic, KCPR's most famous alumni DJ, strikes a pose with Broadcast Journalism Professor and KCPR advisor John Soares. Soares now has an autographed Weird Al Yankovic tie.

The conversation gets animated between former College of Architecture and Environmental Design Dean Paul Neel (left) and his former design student Yankovic. "He was in my design class, three hours a day," Neel recalled. "His hair was always in his face. One day he told me he was recording a song in the bathroom. I said, 'That's weird, Al." Yankovic didn't seem to mind the story from his former prof.
Yankovic took time out at the KCPR dedication to pose for photos and be interviewed by Mustang Daily managing editor Ryan Chartrand (left).
