About Wildcard Brewing Company
Wildcard Brewing Company represents the tens of thousands of entrepreneurs and small business owners who receive business assistance from the California SBDC’s each year. Wildcard Brewing Company opened its doors in 2012 with 4200 square feet of open warehouse space, a 20 gallon pilot system and a small, bare bones tasting room. Today the company produces 2500 barrels of craft beer a year and continues to grow at a rapid pace adding to the chaos and Wildcard spirit. Founders Jeff and Jenny Hansen’s dreams became a reality much in part due to the resources of the SBDC program and mentorship.
In 2013, Wildcard had worked with the Northeastern California SBDC Shasta Cascade Center to secure an SBA loan from Cornerstone Community Bank; allowing them to procure and install a 15 barrel state of the art brew system. In the process new jobs were created, the local construction industry received a boost and new tax dollars went into the community economy. In 2014, Wildcard made the leap into packaged beer, purchasing a bottling and offering three of their year round ales in 22oz bottles. Early 2106 Wildcard was able to expand with a second tasting room in downtown Redding, CA. Also last year the small microbrewery released a new flagship, North State IPA, in 6 Pack Cans. Currently, Wildcard distributes packaged bottle and can products as well as draft beer offerings throughout Northern CA, Sacramento Valley, the East Bay Area and Southern Oregon.
“It is an honor to represent the State of California in Washington, D.C. Wildcard is extremely grateful to the SBDC for mentoring and guiding our business during its earliest days, setting a foundation for success that has continued today. It is programs like this that are invaluable to local economies job creation and growth.” – Jenny Hansen, CO-Founder.
