See 'The Bald Soprano'

The Cal Poly Theatre & Dance Department Presents "The Bald Soprano." The play presents an absurd world of senseless communication, shattered as the characters reveal true, intimate secrets about themselves.  Directed by Al Schnupp. Curtain time is 8 p.m. in the Spanos Theatre  Nov. 13-15 and Nov. 20-22. Explore Mars Exhibit at Kennedy Library Through Jan. 12
Date: November 14, 2008 to January 12, 2009
Experience another world in a unique and engaging way with “Mars Within Reach: Arctic Melodies and Science from the Red Planet,” an interactive exhibit scheduled at Cal Poly. The free and public runs through Jan. 12 in the Kennedy Library Gallery at the Commons.  The exhibit will allow visitors to touch, hear, and interact with data from several recent Mars missions. It blends planetary science, engineering, and music to demonstrate scholarship related to the exploration of the Martian Arctic.

Cal Poly Choirs’ December 6 ‘Christmas Celebration’ to Bring Holiday Cheer

The holiday season is coming a little early to the Central Coast, by way of the Cal Poly Choirs’ annual “A Christmas Celebration,” set for 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in Harman Hall of the Christopher Cohan Center. The University Singers, PolyPhonics and The Early Music Ensemble, conducted by Thomas Davies, will be joined by the Cal Poly Brass Ensemble, conducted by Christopher Woodruff. In addition the Cal Poly Barbershop Quartets and the a capella ensemble Take It SLO will also perform.

U Jazz Bands Play Swing Dance Concert in Santa Barbara Nov. 21
Date: November 21, 2008
Travel to Gaucho territory Friday, Nov. 21, to support the University Jazz Band's Swing Dance. The dance concert runs 9 p.m.-midnight at the Carrillo Recreation Center, 100 East Carrillo St., Santa Barbara (free dance lessons at 8 p.m.) For more info., call 805-897-2519. Tickets are $12 general, $10 students.

Annual Cal Poly Poinsettia Sale to Start Dec. 1
Date: December 01, 2008 to December 22, 2008
Cal Poly's annual poinsettia sale, featuring more than 2,500 plants with 30 varieties and many colors, will begin Dec. 1 and continue through mid-December at Poly Plant Shop.The holiday flowering plants are grown by students in the university’s Poinsettia Agriculture Enterprise Project.

U Jazz Band's Fall Concert is December 5

Come hear the University Jazz Band's Fall Concert Friday, December 5 at 8 p.m. in Spanos Theatre. The performance will feature an eclectic mix of jazz standards and modern compositions, and will be performed by the University Jazz Bands No. 1 and No. 2 and the Cal Poly Jazz Combos.
